Canadians, time to know your home grown designers, there are a few jewels in the Toronto to choose from here are some of the reasons why:
Joeffer Caoc- exquisite cutting and construction, whimsical prints and timeless design.
Karamea- very girly and feminine cuts, tends to cut for women with breasts.
Mercy - One of the hardest working designers I've ever met. Holts used to carry a few pieces not sure if that's still the case.

I've been tardy, but all is about to get rectified soon. In the mean time there are too many sample sales this weekend to not update. So in the spirit of stylehaven here's a count down of the best sample sales coming up.

Carry on with the black and white theme, price point is fantastic and can be worn very late in the season by changing your accessories. Black boots, black tights and a jacket befitting of autumn, plus darker jewellery and you'll could wear this dress into winter.

I know autumn is knocking on the door, but I can't let go of summer shopping. This is a really great time to stock up for next summer. Shoes below are a great example of this, again all these items are already on sale, but you take an additional 20% the sale price.
Another example of a transitional item, these shoes can definitely be worn throughout the autumn and winter months depending on the climate. I seemed to have only shown black and white intentionally I might add. The premise of the post is to show you how you can get transition your summer pieces into the colder months for work and play.

Toronto has had the wetest summer since 1986 and no one is ready for autumn but it's coming and depending on what's in store there are a weatlth of looks to choose from. Found these beautiful patent leather Tory Birch stacked heel pump, price point is reasonable, no where near Manolo pricing.

Derby's are back from last season this time with a little toe cleavage. These mushroom coloured derby's can be worn right into December providing it doesn't rain a lot ( make sure to treat them with a protective spray) and the snow doesn't get out of hand too early. I checked the Nine West Canada and they do have this style but it's not the same colour. It also looks like the price is cheaper for the style I've shown too.

I past by Boutique le trou last week to see a sign in the window "$100" I'm not sure if she's closing the boutique or not, but the merchandise has always been truly fantastic. The owner hand picks designers based on her own qirky magical style.
It's a great place to shop if you're looking for a special gift, a cocktail dress or household items.

This is an online sale only so don't expect to visit Browns the shop and see the same shoes on sale or even the same selection for that matter. Now if you don't mind shopping online and you know how some of these brands fit you could really do quite a bit of damage and get a lot of shoes for your money.
All the summer stock is 80% off there is a large selection of shoes ranging from $26-$130. I found Manolo Blahnik, Stella McCartney, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Cole Haan etc. The list is quite extensive for brand names. Mens selection;Y-3 John Varvatos (great designer), Clarks, Adidas also superbly priced.
Don't expect to find those killer Manolos, the selection is very conservative and not too terribly exciting. Still you can find some great transitional pieces that can be worn to work, casual dressing and if the weather stays nice and warm some of these shoes can be worn into October if you're a die hard summer fan.

My friend and I were here last week we stumbled upon it by accident. There was no signage on the restaurant which I thought strange, but what drew us there was the glorious patio. Once inside I asked at the front if the menu was fusion, she replied yes it's infusion. This is not a fusion menu but rather a typical asian menu lending itself mostly to south east asian fare. We sat outside and waited for ages to be served but no one came. I went to use the toilets (head towards the exit sign at the back of the restaurant) which were really quite lovely. Private cubicals some with a view of a goddess outside spouting water. I used the cubicles closest to the exit, but on closer inspection I saw a rather small sign on the door indicating mens/ladies. Making my way back outside I found out that all the staff were in a meeting.
I wasn't too thrilled about the service especially when we had to wait for our initial order to be taken, we were alsoforgotten about when my friend asked for a more nan bread. I might give it another try in the future as the food was pleasant and the patio is fantastic, the interior was quite nice as well, smoldering light with injections of red and a predictable buddha standing guard over the bar. If you're in the area or want a new place to dine, check it out. Just remember look for a beautiful patio on the south side of King st w.

Continuing on from where I last left off, here are some more summer must haves that vary in price. Some high, low and moderately priced items that can take you in to next spring/summer:
Number4: Speaking of maxi dresses, found this at Zara, not sure of the price but I imagine it to be quite reasonable. This is great for lounging by the pool, or at the beach or if you're shopping and you know you're going to get dressed and undressed a lot. Brides take note.
Number3: Animal prints never go out of style, you can bring them out season after season. What I like about this shoe it's a bit of animal print if you're not keen on wearing it on your body. These were found at Nine West on sale $89.99
Number1: The outdoor pajamas...no really. I love this example from Prada the print is scrumptuous and the cut is flattering to all. Sadly I can't afford this example but if I could this would be my dream choice. Wear these lounging on a lazy afternoon, or to lunch. Break it up and wear the top with skirt or the pants with a tshirt. Super comfy and dreamy, these are my number one pick.

Connections trade show by Le Book kicks off later this month in New York. Anyone who is truly gifted in the creative arena will want to attend this by invitation only event. It's an opportunity to meet and make important connections pivotal to a career in fashion, commerce, or art direction. I have been told it's difficult to get in, but it's still worth a try, or at the very least worth standing outside and networking.

Number 10: A good Tote Bag for all your bits and pieces. Don't carry multiple bags it looks messy and by the end of the day you'll be exhausted. If you have shoes, lunch etc, get yourself a nice tote bag that can also double as an evening bag. This one looks like Chanel but it's BCBG Max Azria, you'll be able to use it season after season.
Number9: The Grecian look is really hot this summer, but it's not for everyone. Height is almost necessary, no one under 5ft should wear this look as it will make you look shorter and wider. There are exceptions to the rule extra high heels and I mean high (4"+) and a petite frame could pull this off. I found this at Net-a-Porter, label is called La Petite S***** this dress has a built in corset one of the labels signature details.
Number8: The Gladiator sandal is back! For those that remember seeing this sandal in the 80's they are timeless. This one comes in taupe, grey, @ Nine West. Also comes in a heel for those that want a higher version. This is a staple item this summer.
Number7: Found this Safari Dress at Banana Republic. Cool and classic, this dress can work with every body type. Can be worn to work and beyond. The classic coat dress style is uber comfortable to wear. Price point is very reasonable under $200. Wear it with high or low heels works either way.
Summer's top ten list will continued next week. Check back when I will show you how to find runway looks in the retail world
